Pakistan faces a critical malnutrition crisis, with 40% of children affected by stunted growth due to inadequate nutrition.

Many children are also underweight or experience health issues like anemia and vitamin deficiencies, particularly in rural and low-income areas where access to nutritious food is limited.

This lack of essential nutrients not only impacts children’s physical growth but also hampers their cognitive development, limiting their potential in school and beyond.

In response, the Government of Pakistan has prioritized addressing malnutrition through targeted initiatives like Benazir Taleemi Wazaif Program and Benazir Kafalat Program. These programs offer financial aid, education, school meals, and healthcare to improve the living standards of vulnerable communities in Pakistan.

What is Benazir Nashonuma Program?

The Benazir Nashonuma Program was launched in 2020 by the Government of Pakistan as part of Benazir Income Support Program and Benazir Ehsaas Program. It aims at improving child health and nutrition, particularly during the first two years of a child’s life because these are important years for growth.

Pakistan faces high rates of malnutrition and 40% of children in the country suffer from poor growth. Many are also underweight or face other health conditions due to lack of nutrition. Therefore, the Nashonuma Program was created to address these problems.
